LVPD erred on this one

Lets hold off what? Discussing it? It is a news story about ccw.

There is nothing to talk about yet since we have nothing but one single news story and a bunch of anonymous comments. My 2 cents anyway.

Mod sticky on the subject:

Just because a news story has a gun associated with it does NOT make it suitable for discussion on THR. News stories are suitable for discussion here only when the story contains clear and unambiguous self-defense, home defense, firearms-centric, or RKBA aspects *and* when there is readily discernible detail in the news accounts sufficient to support a rational discussion.

If the news story does not fall within those qualifiers, please don't post it. If you are unsure of the appropriateness of the story for discussion here, then please PM a moderator and ask.

WOW man, you need to relax a bit, it is all over other forums like the high road, glock talk, and sig forums. It is a major story. Take a pill, drink a beer and relax. :what:

You do know you are posting on the High Road right?

I'm just relaying what the moderators have said about things like this. You are free to do what you want.

I had a dedicated Thread on this incident in the Strategies and Tactics section, and, it was locked because Moderators felt that the news articles being quoted did not agree on the facts, hence, speculation or review and analysis on our part, were not welcome.

I am not aware of any News Articles about anything, ever, which can be said to represent reliable fact, or, where various articles from differing sources, on any incident or event of any kind agree.

So, this does not make sense to me.

At which point, I no longer know what to discuss.

We end up discussing why we are prohibited from discussing it.

A real subject killer.

Because usually if you wait 24, 48 hours you see a much clearer picture.

Take this thread for example, the OP has declared that "LVPD Screwed the Pooch".

Based on what evidence? Little too soon for that no? Certainly might be true, but who knows based on one crappy media article.

Funny, we are the first to jump all over the media when they report anti gun things yet we are willing to give them absolute accuracy here. At the very least wait til more of the story comes out.

What exactly is there to discuss here? Maybe a guy with a permit was shot when he shouldn't have been, maybe it was clearly necessary. That's not much of a "discussion".

1. Note that the Low Road title was changed.

2. What legal points are at issue? And where is some appropriate cite from the article which would bring it to the attention of a discussion of pertinent laws?

3. That S&T thread asked a question for which the newspaper article was itself irrelevant to the question. People responded to the article, not to the question.

And so this is closed for what I call very good reasons, pointed out in #2, above. "Hit and run" URLs just don't cut it.
