Looking to start in Reloading, looking at the Lyman and Lee Anniversary kit. Any other suggestions?

I'm mostly reloading .280, 8x57 and possibly .308 (ammo kinda cheap anyway)
Do you have to buy proprietary dies for whatever brand reloader you buy? A friend has an old RCBS setup that I bought dies for and he's been reloading my .280s. But the RCBS kit is a bit out of my price range.
