Time for a new hand prime tool. After thousands of primers, finally broke my second lee hand prime.

At the prince of Lee, I'm tempted to buy another one, but it want to make sure I've checked out everything.

Anyone tried the apparently new Lyman e-zee prime hand tool? Can my Lee hand prime shell holders work for anything else if I switch brands? Do other brands use special shell holders or do they use the shell holder used with the dies!

Thank you in advance.

It looks like the Lyman hand primer uses press shell holders.

If that is really the case, the Lee primer shell holders will not work.

True Story....Lee hand primer shell holders won't work....but Lee press shell holders, and RCBS shell holders will.

RCBS's universal hand primer is heavier duty and has one universal shell holder.....that's the one I prefer.

Ok, after some debate, I went with another Lee. Turns out, the main body part is the same as the old prime tool, which is what broke on mine. Long ago I broke the thumb lever and ordered two so is have an extra. So now for $20 I have an original and the "improved" model should I decide to try it. Incidentally I bought a 45 acp factory crimp die just to see what it was all about. IDPA starts this weekend so better get loading. Last year I made marksman with my 1911 so at this weekends classifier I'm thinking of going with my 4" 586 for kicks and grins.
