The motor in my Lyman 1200 went bad. I've told you can get a new motor from Lyman. I tried taking mine apart. I've removed the bowl and the spindle and removed the nuts that appear to hold the cover on over the motor compartment but I can't get the cover off

I haven't been able to find any videos on Youtube or elsewhere. Anyone done this before?

how much does a new motor from lyman cost??

Is it worth it in the long run?

Haven't been in to that one but some times they put screws under the pads of the feet. Some feet are just pressed into a hole others use double sided tape. I hope this helps you.

I bought the auto-flow bowl as an "upgrade" and once I used it, didn't think it was an improvement at all, as it took forever to partially drain the media.
So I've had both, and in my view, the standard bowl has a much rounder profile that produces a better tumbling action, so I switched back to it.
I've replaced motors and built tumblers with motors from a cheap bathroom exhaust fan or box fan motor.
C frame motors:

Round type motors:

Adding to the motor weight by wrapping some solder around it will increase the tumbling action.

If I’m not mistaken they use the same base. Your bowls should fit.

I checked with Lyman the bowls are the same, so I bought the 1200 Pro (no autoflow) from Amazon for $43. The motor costs $39.95 from Lyman. So, buying a new tumbler was the only logical choice. Now I can use it either way. Thanks for the tip

Good call...motor or new tumbler price within $5.
Now you can research a replacement motor for cheaper and end up with 2 operating tumblers.
It's what I did, thinking I'd never use two at once but often do, with different media in each.
:D

If you dig into the motor...often times a wire has just broken off and can be soldered back in place. Unless the motor is actually siezed up...or burned to a crisp, you might be able to repair it.
