Been looking for a new tumbler for a little while. Been reading a few posts, it seems that everyone with Lyman tumblers is pretty happy with them and they are well built and problem free.

Has anyone got a bad one?

Anybody who would never buy another one?

Is the autoflow worth it?

Please try and keep it just to Lyman tumblers.

Thanks

I have the 1200 autotumbler. I like it a lot. So far I haven't had any problems with it. 4 years strong. Quiet operation. My dog bit up the rubber lock nut for the top cover. One call to lyman and a new rubber nut was in my mailbox 1 week later, free of charge. The autosifter is pretty nifty, except that it does take some time for all the media to go through.

I have a Turbo Pro 1200, and it's great! I really think the shape of the post in the center of the bowl has a lot to do with how well it works. The bottom of the bowl is bagel/donut-shaped, not flat across the center, and the cyclonic action is terrific! I can fill it to the top and it just churns like mad.

I've got a Pro 1200 with 6 years on it and it still works great. I used to let the brass run all night, but have found that 2 hours works very well. Just don't over load it with brass and you'll be happy with the results.

I just bought a Lyman Turbo 1200 with the auto-flo. I have been very pleased with it so far. Quality is good and I have been running it non-stop for ~ 18 hours a day. The auto-flo drains the media slowly but you still have to empty the cases. I just used a bucket and vegetable strainer. The auto-flo version is only a few bucks more so it might be worth a shot for you.

Hey folks,

In addition to other brands, I have a lot of Lyman equipment and think highly of it. I have had one of their 1200s for over 20 years, and it still works like new. As far as the auto flo emptying goes, I don't bother with it. I just dump everything in a fryolater thing to strain the media out.

Best wishes,
Dave Wile

I have three Lyman tumblers, a Turbo 600, a Turbo 1200 Auto-Flow, and a 2500 Pro Magnum. All three of them run almost constantly the 1200 was the first one I got and it has been going for about a year now. A few months ago I picked up the 600 just for cleaning case lube off .308 brass and I picked up the 2500 about a month ago because I sort of "outgrew" the 1200 when I started loading for my AR.
I'm probably going to pick up a fourth tumbler pretty soon and it will definitely be a Lyman. As far as the Auto-Flow I have Lymans with and without it and I could take it or leave it. It works, but it is kind of noisy and you still have to mix up the brass by hand to make sure all the media is out. I like it better for pistol brass than for rifle, it does not empty the media from the rifle brass very well.

i've got the auto flow version and while it does a good job tumbling the brass i'm not happy with the "auto flow" portion. I should have bought a standard tumbler and one of the spinning separating baskets...

Thanks All for the info

It sounds like the Lyman tumbler is the way to go. I got a lot of blue stuff, but I can by 2 lyman 2500's for the price of a blue one, and they don't have great reviews.

Sounds like I will steer clear of the auto flow. I can just dump in the bucket as always.

thanks again
