M 91/59 at the range today

I was shooting at 50 yds. I used Hungarian light ball, ALbanian brass cased and lacquer coated Polish light ball 50s era . All shot to poa and grp 2 -3 inches. THe tightest was the Albanian (i wish i bought plenty of this back then). The most felt recoil was the Polish made. After 100 plus rounds, i had a stucked empty shell in the chamber. No doubt the lacquer coating is the culprit. I used penetrating oil and a cleaning rod to pop it out. Glad it work though.

Overall a very nice day. The M 91/59 Mosin Nagant rifle is a hoot to shoot . One shooter nearby said he may have to find himself one . Looks like he was amazed of how it grouped. Thats all .

I really enjoy my M38. If i could find a 91/59 I would pick it up in a heartbeat.

Im sure what im gonna say is typical of experiencing the Mosin rifles. As you know they shoot with a loud boom and the muzzle concussion is deafening. The guy next to me was shooting his CAI assembled WASR 10 in rapid fire. Once I fired mine, he stop and the next guy next to him shooting a AR rifle also stop. They all looked at me and use their binoculars to see my target . Deep inside i was just giggling . I rapid fire as fast i could(im used to the recoil so no problem) and obtain 2-3 groups . I could just see they were amazed of how a little old Russian rifle can do it. Hahahha. again its the shooter not the gun when all is said and done.

I got mine in 2003 when AIMs had them for $ 100 a piece. It came with wax wrappers and string around it. Its like the proverbial Lee Enfield NO 4 Mk 2 Ireland contract coveted by many collectors. Like all of them they are round receivers and dated 1943.
