I am looking at purchasing a cylinder conversion, and I ran across this company. Looking at the website Ace Dube seems like a guy that would fit in around here. Does anybody have experience dealing with this guy/company?

I am specifically looking at a conversion from 30-30 to 32h&r mag

MCA Sports if I am thinking of the right company has been around a long time. I have bought a couple chamber adapters from them and have had no problem. $20 for blue , and $28 for stainless includes shipping and they do make the adapter you are looking for.

PS: for $20 including shipping you can't hardly go wrong

Thanks. I shall place an order. Probably will pop for stainless on this one. Once I see how that fares I may look at other inserts for my 44 mag contender.

If not shooting them much they are OK. If you reload, its simpler in the long run to justy load light loads in the rifle case.

I have a 32 auto/30-30 adapter. Its accurate enough for small game, but 32 auto shells arent that cheap, I dont load them, and if I did, I decided I may as well just load the level of load I wanted in the 30-30 case and not worry about losing the adapter.

YMMV, that was my conclusion after using one for a while.

I do reload but I don't want to run into the issue of having multiple loads that could potentially be mistaken for each other. I already have enough of that in 44 mag, 357, and 32 swl. I would hate to shoot a big buck with a mouse fart plinker, and I would hate to shoot a squirrel with a full power round. For my purposes I want to gain ability to use 32 mag cases for rabbit/squirrel loads through the 30-30. No question with my current loads that it would be a standout round.

I understand the concern, and it always baffled me why people would load differing loads that would look similar, or load the magazine full up with small game loads when hunting big game. I use drastically different bullets. The round ball loads obviously look extremely different, the 115 gr flat point lead bullets are also very different than any full power loads I use for 30-30, being very short and a very different bullet profile overall.

When I've loaded lighter loads in 338 I used the 200 gr flat point 33 Win bullets, they are easy to instantly well the difference from regular full power stuff. In '06, I use short bullets, like the 110 gr'ers or cast bullets. I want to do a round ball load for '06 also. They are like shooting 22's in noise and power.

In 348, I load 200 gr Hornadys for general use, and some 250 gr Barnes in my belt when up on the mountain. They are the only real differing loads that look similar I use in anything. I mark an X across the base with a sharpie so I can instantly tell which load I'm looking at. The round ball loads for 348 of course arent hard to tell from regular ones. I generally leave the magazine loaded with full power loads and single load small game loads as needed for grouse etc, and always have the gun ready for whatever other surprises may present themselves. The Winchesters actions make doing that very easy.

One aspect of the Winchester actions that made dealing with the chamber inserts easier, was ejecting the insert, it would cartwheel out of the action into the air, spinning the empty 32 auto shell out, and I'd catch it in my right hand, ready to load it again with a 32 round, or put it in my cartridge belt or pocket. It would be a bit awkward to have to poke the empty out with a stick or whatever.

See how the chamber inserts work for you, you may come to different conclusions than I did after using them. We all have our own take on things of course.

There's one thing I just noticed malamute...you don't already load the 32acp. I'm loading 32acp, 32sw, and 32swl already and I ended up with a bunch of 32 mag brass as well. In the acp I am loading the same loads as I am in 32 sw. Small case makes it just a touch peppier in the acp. I bump it up a little (lot) in 32 swl cases and run them at max load in my 30-1. I only shoot the 32sw in my grandma's RG a couple times a year, and in the junk box special every once in a while. By adding 32 mag to the repertoire I have good excuse to find another gun.

Correct, I dont load 32 auto (have dies, brass, bullets etc, just no particular need to load it). It would make more sense to use the adapter if I used a 32 auto gun at the same time, or at all I guess. If loading 32 auto loads for the adapter, its probably just as simple to load 30-30's light and not have the extra step of handling the adapter and extra shells.

I'd probably feel more inclined to use one if I had a nickel 32 hand ejector Smith with 3 1/4" barrel. I'd of course have to get the other adapter then.

Your conclusion of having a good excuse to get another gun I can solidly get behind. :)

I didnt mean to try to talk you out of the adapter, just relate my experience. Your feeling about them may be different. Let us know how it goes when you get it. Mine shot pretty well in several Winchester 94's and factory 32 auto FMJ loads, some guys say their accuracy wasnt that great. I'm guessing it will vary a fair amount with different guns.

Glenn Frixell had some good loads for the various 32's. I'll look them up after dog walking.

I have a 9mm conversion from them for my .35 Whelen. Pretty neat option to have. Price is right also.

I think there are many options which they will make which are not listed, or at least they would take special orders back when.
