I'm interested in an M&P 40 and an interested in how they compare to a S&W 4006 or a Glock of the same barrel lengeth as far as accuracy is concerned.

Based on a short (~1 hour) range session in which I compared both a Glock 22 and a M&P .40 side by side, I was able to shoot the M&P much more accurately. The Glock was by no means bad, IIRC about 3" groups at 15 yards, while the M&P was about 2" or less, easy. At the 7 yard line, there was absolutely no difference, both shot one ragged hole. I think the improved ergonomics on the M&P allowed me to grip the pistol better resulting in better accuracy at greater range. Of course, YMMV. I ended up purchasing a M&P 9 over the .40, just personal preference. Glocks have never really done it for me, while the M&P feels custom-tailored. Love my M&P!

Mine is very accurate and a pleasure to shoot. Very little muzzel flip, points natrually and the adjustable backstraps are a great feature to account for large or small hands.
