I have a 40C and have been thinking about getting a 40FS. To see how they differ in size and shape, I overlaid an image of the 40C over the 40FS. Thought others might appreciate seeing where the differences are between the compact and the full size M&Ps.

I have the FS and really really like it. In addition I find I can conceal it fairly well in an IWB holster.

I am going to buy another M&P eventually, I just can't decide if I want another full or a compact. I change my mind from day to day.

I like the Compact quite a bit. It's a 10+1 capacity in .40 cal. Feel in the hand on M&Ps is really good and the bore axis is low. Makes for a nice shooting gun. I will probably pick up a full size 40 as well for a house/rv/camp gun... because I would like the higher capacity of 15+1. I can see that I could probably carry the full size IWB as well. Not so sure I would want to, but I'm sure it can be done.

Did you try/consider the .45C or midsize? Why the .40? I am still debating. I don't have anything larger than 9mm in a semiauto at this time.

When I bought my 40C there was no M&P45. No doubt the M&P45 is a very nice gun, but with only 10+1 capacity, it doesn't interest me. I have plenty of 45s in all shapes and sizes and if I'm going to have the size and weight of a full size 45, I simply want more than 10+1 capacity. M&P buyers have a very clear preference, statistically, for the M&P40 over the M&P45.

40 offers relatively comparable ballistic performance and much larger capacity. While I like the push of 45 more than the snap of 40, but am equally comfortable shooting both of them.

i have the compact, and have fired my buddies full size. i like the compact better. they recoil almost exactly the same. and the compact has a better balance for me.

if only the slide would stop locking back with rounds still in the mag. already sent it to smith, they replace the slide sstop and spring, still dose it though. i'm glad smith has good CS, cause i have to send it back lol.

(and no, it's not caused by me contacting the slide stops with my thumbs)
