M&P .45 ACP thumb safety question

I have heard that one can take the thumb safety out of an M&P .45 so equipped without any detrimental effects or problems of any sort. Is this true? Anyone know?

You can buy one with out it... if you don't want the thumb safety, I would get that model.

I have that same model but I am keeping the thumb safety. Wish my 9c had one but I do love the way they both shoot.

I'd go the other way if I could, I'd add one to my 9c. Can that be done? Unlike the 45, there is no choice that I am aware of with the 9c.

I don't want a thumb safety but have a chance to buy one WITH the thumb safety at a good price.

You can remove the thumb safety without any issues. It's pretty much the same as the lock assembly on other M&Ps and can be removed by knocking out the roll pins that hold the action in the frame, removing the action, and removing the safety bits. All the safety does is block the trigger bar when activated so it's removal has no effect on the rest of the gun other than the unsightly holes. That's easily fixed as S&W will sell the bits that they use to block that hole in guns without the safety/lock.
