M&P 9 Pro, good deal/price check?

With Smith & Wesson's "$50 back or 2 free mags" offer due to expire on Monday the 31st. I was wondering if anyone has run across an value deal on the M&P 9 Pro model?

This will be my USPSA Production Class shooter, I'm still really up in the air between the 9 Pro or SA's XDM-9 for a new production class gun.

I've over researched myself into NOT being able to make a decision, but the S&W offer about to expire I need to get a decision made! :confused:

Shot both, like both, want both, but can't justify both.

If anyone has a recent "great price" that they would share I really would appreicate it.

Check Bud's, if they've got them you probably won't find a better price than their's.
 
jalu, I bought my M&P 40 with the 2 free mag promotion and it took a while for me to get the mags from S&W (about 5 months). So if you are thinking about using the mags for your USPSA matches, think again.

Also, I have been using 2 stock G22s in USPSA matches for quite a few years and find factory Glock trigger to be more suitable for double taps required for USPSA matches than factory S&W trigger. When I switched from the 1911 platform, I consistently got the fastest stage times with the stock G22 than any other factory pistol I tried (I tried about 35 different models).

I am not trying to sell you on Glock, but the factory G22 took me to 80 percentile ranking of Limited shooters at my range. And factory Glock magazines are cheaper too (You will need about 5+ for USPSA matches - I use 7 10-round mags).
 
I got a good deal on my M&P 9 pro because I bought it through a law enforcement distributor. I paid $535. Not everybody can do that. My XDm 9 was $699 at Gander Mountain. I like them both. In fact, I really like polymer guns if you looked at my safe. As far as triggers go, the Pro has a good trigger. My ex-wife's duty gun is a M&P 9. Her's needed a trigger job right off the bat. The Pro series trigger is quite a bit better than the stock trigger. It is very comparable to my XDm 9 trigger. BDS made a point about magazine costs. I will agree with him on that point. Magazines are a little pricier on my M&P than on the XDm.
 
Thanks for the imput guys, but I still don't know what direction I need to go for my production division gun.

The 9mm vs .40 is still confusing me somewhat...the reason is, I've become "recoil ruined" after 22 years of trap shoooting and have developed a flinch when shooting any firearm that people pay to see me shoot for laughs.

I'm making a joke about it but sadly it has cost me the shooting sport that I love the most.
So I've decided to pursue USPSA Production Division for a new lease on life so to speak, the need to compete burns inside me still but I'm just not sure what to do with it.

Do I go with the 9mm or down load the .40 to help me deal with the recoil issue?

One thing I need to mention is that I'm a LEFTY/SOUTHPAW so that needs to be considered as well.

of my friends that shot my Glock, M&P Pro (with Apex Sear and SSS Ti FPB) and XDm (with Springer Precision kit) they all picked the M&P Pro as the top choice, with the Glock second. the common comments on the XDm is that the bore-axis was high. one friend sold one of his 2 Glocks for a M&P. He would sell the other Glock, but he likes the RTF frame. i foresee him selling it by the end of the year though.

I have the M&P 40 fullsize and I believe M&P is one of few gun models with ambi slide release (mag release is interchangeable). So, M&P Pro may be the obvious choice for you.

As to caliber, look at it this way. Trigger time is everything for match shooting. 9mm will allow you to shoot more than 40S&W. With that said, I have drop in 40-9 Lone Wolf conversion barrels for my G22/G27 so I can shoot both 40S&W and 9mm out of my guns for practice.

Still, I think the M&P Pro may be your best bet. Are you able to try the pistols out at a range (range gun) before you buy them? It may be the best "final" test.

For me, I would not have any problem competing with XDM, M&P Pro or stock G22 any day (my current match gun is G22).
 
Unless you reload, stay away from the 40 in Production class. You're not gaining a thing.

I no longer shoot Production but when I did, I used a Para LDA.:p

I do own a M&PL. Seem to be a nice gun.

Reloading won't be a problem, I have a Dillon XL-650, RL-550B and two SL900's.

I've been loading sub pf loads and running them through my XD40 to see if the flinch that ground my trap shooting to a stop will rear it's ugly head as I try to enter handgun competition.
I've been able to shoot the XDm9 and the G34 but haven't been able to find a 9Pro locally to run a few hundred rounds through yet.

I think I'll just go ahead and order the M&P 9Pro and see how it feels as it seems to be lefthand friendly.
