M&P 9 "pro series" first impression

Or should I say, very impressed. I picked one up last weekend.
I shot 100 rounds thru it when I got it, took to our clubs steel plate match and finished second!

I wasn't sure if I would like the Hi Viz front sight but it allows for quick target acquisition and is very eye friendly. Recoil is very manageable for rapid fire and staying on target. It's a natural pointer.

S&W seems to have finally gotten it right with the M&P.

I was a bit hesitant about purchasing a game gun without an adjustable rear sight but I have thoroughly enjoyed shooting my M&P9PRO. It shoots to point of aim and I appreciate the ergonomics of the M&P although I do miss the unique ambidextrous safety of the older S&W99/Walther P99's.

I can't tell you how long I've been waiting for the MP 40 Pro in the 5" model. Last time I called Smith they told me they had produced 15 of them and would be producing more in the future but did know know the date. Latest rumor is that they'll start shipping in the first of September.

I just went to S&W's site to see what this M&P 9 Pro is and I can't find it. I looked at the M&P series and did not see anything with PRO in the name. What should I be looking for?

Bought the wife a 9L. Polished the striker block and stoned the sear, shoots like a dream.
It also goes well with the 9c and 40 full size I already had.

I like it so much, I might look into M&P 9c for carry. We had 2 people at the match shooting the 9L. I think S&W will do well with all the M&P guns.

An Apex sear and FPB will improve on the Pro's trigger.

I'll show my ignorance, but what's the difference between a 9L and the Pro? I like the M&P 9mm that I shot, but I'd like one with a longer barrel for shooting at the range.

Fox, the Pro and L are the same configuration (5" barrel) with a bit of attention paid to the Pro trigger. I bought the L to save money as I've worked on my other M&Ps so a trigger job was no problem.

My first M&P received the Apex parts which I measured, then I stoned the factory parts to similar dimensions. I knew as soon as I shot the first M&P that another was soon to follow. Presto! I had parts ready for replacement plus a factory set should warranty work be needed.

The Apex Hard Sear is terrific as is the Striker Block though you could save money doing the latter yourself (it's just smoothing over a chamfered edge to round it out).

Google Burwell M&P trigger job to get an idea of what's involved, it will give you an idea of the process as well as some important pointers not included by Apex.
