M&P-9 Shield Range Report

Here is the new M&P-9 Shield with Hornady Zombie Maxx ammo. I did not experience a single malfunction in 240 rounds. The first two videos are at 14 yards and are the first 4 magazines through the gun. With a capture of the muzzle flash and a shot of the target. I love the brass coming toward the camera!!

The second two mags where much better once I realized the sights where shooting high and right.

It was so accurate at 14 yards I tried this little gun at 25 yards. Its not bad for a little pocket 9mm.

I shot mine last night. I like it a lot. Am selling my Kahr PM9, as I prefer the Shield. Its a nice little gun

Hey, Ship. I was surprised at how well it shot and how little recoil it had when compared to my Kel-tec pf9. It really is a well made little shooter.

A question to anyone who owns an SR9C Ruger:

I'm thinking about selling my SR9C for no other reason than I want the heavier double action only trigger of a Shield. I have NOT shot a shield yet, however. Is there a noticable difference between the two?

In your opinion, is the Shield the build quality of the SR9C?

What do you think? Would it be a bad move to sell the SR9C and buy the Shield? I just feel more comfortable having a DAO trigger for self defense. Maybe I should keep the SR9C for target shooting AND buy a Shield (Or is there a better option than the Shield - other than Glock?)

Not: I WILL shoot a Shield before buying one. I didn't with the SR9C.

Jim, I have the XDm 3.8" compact and until recently had a G26 and I think the Shield has a lighter trigger than either of these pistols. I do not have experience with the SR9c however. I would recommend you handle a shield first before you try and sell your Ruger. The trigger is actually pretty good for a little pocket 9mm.

Yes, for it's size, I am surprised how soft a shooter it is. I never really enjoyed 150-200 rounds thru m kahr pm9. This was almost like shooting a much larger gun when I shot the Shield.

Does anyone know if the M&P9c grips are interchangeable with the Shield? I want the safety but I can't use it with my laser grips.

The .40 is available now, some of the guys over at the S&W forum got them this week.

No, as there is no replaceable backstrap on the Shield. Lasers for it hook to the trigger guard

The SR9c is one of my most favorite pistol..ever ....Its trigger is one of the guns strongest points.... The SR9c's minor issue is that it is a little big & heavy for warm weather carry. I wouldn't sell it to replace it with a Shield.

Thanks for the input. Yeah, I may be hasty in getting rid of the Sr9c. It's a good gun and I hate getting rid of good guns and my tastes have changed before.

You're right about the Sr9c being just a shade big for carry. Right now, I mostly carry a KelTec P11 because, although it won't fit in all pockets, it fits in many large ones.

But I want to get something just a bit better quality than the p11, so I thought the Shield might fit the bill - it's small and presumably good quality, though I don't think it has P11 capacity. I'd bought The Sr9c as a replacement for the P11, but came to realize I actually LIKED stouter triggers, and the Sr9c won't fit in any pockets I have.

Maybe I SHOULD consider a Glock. Someone else suggested a Glock 26 on another thread.

Bought a Shield 9mm about 3 weeks ago. About 200 rounds through it including five different JHP. Not a hiccup. What's not to like? Feels good, points well, easy to carry, trigger has short travel and crisp break. One minor glitch, the magazines are too thick for single stack mag holster. Will fit double stack holster with retention cranked down. I like it in 9mm, might be a fist full in .40. I'd shoot the .40 before buying one.

Impressive. I need to try one of these out. Too bad I spent my funds on an LCR because I couldn't find any single-stack 9's that I really liked. I've been wanting an M&P, but was having a hard time justifying a purchase since I have a G19. If I like this one my LCR might have a CCW buddy.
