M&P Trigger?

People need to stop comparing the M&P to the Sigma, they are two very different guns.

I owned the Sigma 40VE a few years ago and ditched it because I didn't like the trigger. I now own an M&P40 and I love the trigger. The M&P trigger was a little scratchy at first but after a few hundred rounds it smoothed out very nicely.

Comparing an M&P to a Sigma is they same as a comparing a Glock to one or an XD. There is a huge difference in quality between the Sigma and M&P and the M&P is higher is all regards including the trigger.

Is it considered single or double action? I know that it has the hinged trigger, but are the internal parts the same?

These types of striker fired pistols don't really fall into a DAO or SAO category very well. Two different guns though, the Sigma and M&P.

M&P Trigger? How does it differ from the Sigma?
I believe it's the same trigger.
If by "the same trigger" you mean the physical part that sticks out of the gun, yes, it is the same trigger. If you mean any other part of the fire control mechanism, or anything about the way it works, functions, feels or whatever, then no. It is completely different.

The Sigma trigger is, at best, functional. The M&P trigger, right out of the box, is worlds better than the Sigma's trigger. Even better, the M&P trigger is very very tweakable.

S&W's decision to use the same hinged trigger design on both guns was a really bad one, from a marketing standpoint. It makes people think that the two guns have some similarity.
