I consider it expensive compared to similar platforms.

In a .22lr handgun, I'd prefer a revolver or S&W 422 for plinking.
In a rifle platform, a 10/22 can be had for >$200. AR .22lr uppers aren't too much more.

The M&P pistols are neat, but I don't know what I would use it for.

Different strokes, they say. :)

I really like my S&W M&P 15-22 rifle, so I've thought about getting the pistol.

I would buy the gun in a second but I already own a GSG-5 pistol. Given the chance to swap the GSG for the S&W, I'd do it.
I suspect I'll eventually buy the Smith.

shot one yesterday, I could have bought it slightly used for $370, but I already own the rifle version and couldn't figure out what I do with the this.

Have been enjoying mine; no issues to date. Better accuracy out of the box then a friends 10/22. :)

$450 is pretty expensive.I paid $150 for my Tec-22 Scorpion and $200 for my Ruger Charger. My Tec 22 worked.

I plan to get the full sized M&P15-22 first - then would have to look towards the pistol. Not sure I see much functional use for the pistol - just a lot of fun.

Take care all -

I've got one as well, but never considered recoil was such that it needed two vertical grips!

I do have a weak shoulder, but in this instance it was much easier to enlist the aid of the bipod grip than getting the Missus to pose for the camera. ;)

They're nice, but because of my dislike for the ar's placement of the charging handle I got a ruger 10/22 and put a tactical stock on it. I call it my AK-22 now. Plus R10/22+tactical stock= $300 and the M&P22=$500. $200 can buy a lot of ammo, magazines and other cool accessories.

I'm not sure that I agree with that the philosophy that the M&P 15-22p is really expensive for a rimfire. I shoot my rimfire more than my other guns, and for this reason, I want my rimfire to be really nice.

They are not that pricey. I found one like new in box for 300, and they are a really fun gun to shoot.

i should say, it was the rifle verson, not the pistol.
