Arghhh! IBM M1 Carbine was shipped from CMP FedEX Overnight on 7/24 for delivery on 7/25: It got hung up somewhere in Memphis and on 7/27 is now listed as sitting at a "sorting Desk" still a state away. My new carbine magazine is going crazy waiting!

To top it off, if you haven't checked, don't bother with ordering your carbine now....IBM M1's are listed as sold out already....if this one gets lost, I'm out of luck.

I know the feeling. my Fedex "overnight" from CMP took 4 days to get to me also.FedEx people must work on the U.S. Govt model of "regardles of what we promise, we'll do whatever we want, whenever we want, and you'll just have to live with it!" :D

Call and demand a refund on the difference between the cost of Overnight, and the actual delivery date. FEDX will probably refund it back to CMP, and then you'll have to get the money from them.

It can really be frustrating when your shipment gets hung up on a weekend.

It's all part of the CMP experience! Consider it a payment of your dues. Part of your initiation.

Seriously, Orest at the CMP has negotiated special discount shipping prices from Fed Ex. You're getting a good deal on the carbine, but a fantastic deal on the shipping. You are paying much less than even the standard shipping.

So hang in there. Make sure you have your de-greasing supplies (like mineral spirits) ready. Got ammo? Fairtrimmers or Tung Oil? Ogle more carbine porn on the internet.

Head over to the forum at the CMP site: lots of good info and helpful people there. They'll know just what you're going through.

And welcome to the club!

Magazines...check Ammo (S&B) check. Degreaser check. Targets check. Tung oil check. Will search for carbine porn to brighten spirits.

Thanks all

FedEx came on 7/28....only 3 days late. Beautiful SG IBM...but I've got to figure out what other parts are there (barrel isn't marked as near as I can tell), has a bayonet band with SI on it, can't read the stock mark.

Also have to drift the rear sight...with the adjustable sight all the way to the left, it still shoots 1 inch right (what do you mean, how do I know, of course I shot it as soon as I inspected and oiled it!). Sweet shooter.

Will post pictures when I can get them...don't want to get the hose.

If it makes you feel any better, I missed my "Adult Signature" delivery from UPS yesterday with two C&R rifles in tow. It's bad enough when you have somebody else to blame, but horrible when you have only yourself to blame. :(

How's the bore? I know the CMP says they have heavy pitting, but what they define as heavy is unknown to me.

CMP's descriptions tend towards the "worst case." The rack grade Inland I got in May has no pitting inside or out. (Not a lot of finish either!) Shoots great, has lots of "character."

(Muzzle shows about 1/4" on a round of HXP, too.)

Know how the originator here felt. I had a rifle shipped from Elko, NV to Tallahassee via UPS. Did not arrive, time went on, obtained a tracking number and watched it's voyage on the computer. It went from NV to NC, to AZ, to NY, to CA, to South FL, back to NV and finally arrived in Tallahasse after 30+ days on road. Happens now and then.

How's the bore? Well, pretty darned good. It's shiny and I see no pits with a bore light. Lands look slightly worn at muzzle, but great by about 6 inches in. It gauged a "3".

When did you send your order in?

I show mine being received at 10 am on July 7, but they sent me an email telling me I was too late.

My rack grade NPM has no pitting and great finish on all metal. Dunno how sharp the rifling is supposed to be on these (first one) and I haven't been able to find time to shoot it yet, but a .30-06 round in the muzzle still ahs 1/4"-3/8" exposed.

FYI

I sent my order on July 5th (regular mail). Don't know what time it was logged in on the 7th....but I'm not sure of the procedure after it gets to CMP (whether they log it in quickly as it comes or dump it on a desk and then take off the top 1000 or so)....but I'm not griping. I'm sorry, though, that you didn't get one in this round.

Well, pics are here....best I can do on short notice. It is an original IBM barrel dated 11/43, with IBM Corp and a flame over circle/world emblem you can see in the 4th picture, along with an "R" stamped on the front site. Thanks to somebody posting where to look behind the sight....It's faint enough I missed it the night I got the thing. Yay, IBM barrel AND receiver(!), but on the downside, a 30-06 goes to within a 16th inch of the brass. Left and right side views provided, and the 3rd picture is a stamp on the left side below the receiver of an unknown letter, then maybe a star, than an "F". It has the Italian FAT 72 stamp on the left stock and I can make out a "B" or "3" in the sling channel, but nothing else.

Happy looking!

Sorry, didn't realize pictures would get so small; here are two more of the overall rifle, not compressed.
