A while back I received an m1 carbine from the cmp. Turns out that it is a march of 44 underwood with matching barrel and receiver. I have not yet checked to see if the other parts match, but I am happy with it so far. I was a little upset to see that the receiver had absolutely no park left on it at all. So I decided that since I would have to refinish it that I would go full out. The following are pictures of the process.
As you can see the park on the receiver was nill.
So I put the stock and metal parts in the dishwasher after I cleaned as much cosmo as possible off.
After the dishwasher I sanded the stock a little and put some BLO on it and it looked almost brand spanking new.
But that receiver was still bugging me so I ordered some parkerizing solution and decided to try my hand at it.
I sand blasted the receiver to get rid of any grease or rust.
I don't think the park job turned out very well, but its protected now. I think I am going to have to redo it later, but for now the wife is wanting me to spend some time with my real kids.
