This is my second post, hoping to get some information on an M1 Carbine. I am mainly looking for when these guns were manufactured. There are a few of these guns. The first is an Inland M1-A1 serial # 192510. The second is an Inland M1 serial number 6431818. The third is called a Quality Hardware M1 Carbine and the serial # is 4645551. I would appreciate any information I could get. We do not know anything about these guns but we have this information about them. Thank you

The real problem with dating M1 Carbines is that there are very few that are in their original state. Most have been rebuilt by US Army Arsenals or by collectors.

To really know what you have you have to break down the rifle and find the date codes on each part.

Good Luck.

Larry Ruth, an M1 carbine collector, has a book or two
out that list the contract dates and serial number ranges
for the various WWII carbine manufacturers.

All I remember is that Inland was assigned several serial number
ranges for their different contracts. Inland made over
two million carbines and their serial numbers ranged from
1 to 8million (there were over 6million carbines made, so
some serial number ranges apparently were not used).

Quality Hardware was one of the smaller contracts and
should be easier to date.

All U.S. military M1 Carbines were made during WWII
and rebuilt several times, usually with upgraded parts. Carbines
in as issued status are collectible. You got a good start.
