M1 Carbine rear sight

Last outing with the M1 Carbine, I suddenly noticed the rear sight is sloppy and can slide back and forth (left to right) within the receiver, at least 1/4" of play.....what's the best way to fix this?

which sight do you have? the flip up or the adjustable?

Either way, take it off, de-grease the receiver & sight dovetails with lighter fluid or alcohol, the apply Blue Lock-Tight.

Then center the sight base and re-stake with a center-punch like it originally was in the first place.

It's not the flip up, it's the adjustable.
