M1 Carbine Serial Numbers?

I came into possesion of an Winchester M1 Carbine, Serial number 109xxxx.
Anyone know what year it was made? Anyone know A site where I Could find this out?

I remember that they were shipped out in batches at certain times by each manufacturer, and it's a little harder to tell exactly when they were made; try the search function, I think I had a similar inquiry a year or so ago, and there were some websites tossed out there to look into.

Then again, my memory could be off.

Look closely at the top of your barrel, maybe 1/3rd back from the muzzle. My Inland has a month then two digit year stamped on it. It takes enough light and some searching, unless the winnie is different, but hey, mil-spec should be consistent.

Go to http://www.odcmp.com and in the Carbine Forum there are guys who can tell you. I can tell you that it's pre-October 1943 as Mine is 121xxxx and that was it's mfg date.
