So, I built an M1 Carbine using an aftermarket Springfiled receiver, and a parts kit I've had a round for years. The bolt is a "round type."

The bolt closes fine, but doesnt open without a good whack. Almost as it it won't rotate propery at the beginning of the cycle.

It fires and cycles fine. But hand cycling is ust not right.

I don't know too much about carbines. Anyone know what's up here? Does the bolt type matter?

Thanks.

I'd say your headspace is probably off. If you haven't already, have it checked and correct for it (new bolt may be required) if that is the case, as that can be a dangerous condition. Does it exhibit the same sticking when a cartridge is not inserted or fired? The bolt type shouldn't matter, mine was made with a dished type and later converted to a round type (not by me).

:)
