Anybody have any load data for the M1 Garand using a 150 grain bullet and 4064 powder? I can not find data for the Garand using 4064 with a 150 grain bullet but most load manuals say that 4064 is well suited for this application.
Assuming a 150 gr FMJ...
Lee's 2nd Edition for .30-06 says IMR 4064 a start load of 47.5 yields 2750 FPS.
Lyman's 49th says IMR 4064 a start load of 48 grains yields 2695 FPS
Lee's 7th Garand section doesn't list 4064 for 150 gr. but does for 168 gr (start load 41.4 gr yielding 2300)
H4064 may yield similar but check Hodgdon Powder website first. Hope some of this helps
When I use IMR4064 for loading 150gr bullets for the Garand I charge 47.0gr. I usually use H4895 but I have used IMR4064 on occasion (when I had no 4895) and I got good results. That load produced clean accurate ammo. Unfortunately the last time I did use that load I didn't own a Chrono so I can't give you velocities...
