Hi! I have a nice Beretta-Roma M1 Garand with a wobbly front sight. I peened the slots to tighten the sight but after a few rounds to realign the sights and 10 rounds of match shooting the sight is loose again.

Any advice on how to fix this permanently?

Loctite would work but would make it very difficult to disassemble.

Dab of RTV silicone would resist movement and absorb shock . Could buy a New sight or shim the dovetail ,if the rail is worn badly .

I'd just use silicone and allow 2 days dry time ,end of problem .

Mk VII … thanks … are you thinking propane or map?

I put the sight back in place with a small amount RTV (silicon rubber). It seems solid but I haven’t gotten the the range to see if firing will loosen it again.

Don't use anything with flame. Use a heat gun or the steal the hair dryer from the bathroom. Hot enough without the potential for damage.

I had one loosen and fall off my SA Garand when a friend was shooting it. Naturally it fell off and disappeared into the shale-debris gravel that perfectly camouflaged the parkerized sight, so I never recovered it. That ruined part of an otherwise great shooting weekend.

Good luck finding a solution

Stay safe.

Note: always bring a drag magnet when shooting.
Handy during emergency car repairs, as well.
