Thinking of getting a kreiger barrel from fulton armory. Will let them install.
Has any one had any dealings with them on something like this.
Barrel is at a 5 now. I shoot it for accuracy so feel like it is time.

You are looking at a $500 barrel from Fulton. Been years but I have bought from them, just never had any work done by them. You may just want to look at Krieger for the barrel and the work.

As far as accuracy, depending on what you have, there are plenty of additional tips and tricks to improve the accuracy of your rifle. Keep in mind, if you ever plan to shoot the rifle in matches what changes are permissible for the match.

I agree, when the TE reaches a 5 it's time to think about a barrel. :)

I have made some purchases from Fulton Armory from time to time. I have good service and the parts were very good.

A bright spot, I ordered an AR barrel and a bolt from them. They went ahead and checked the bolt's headspace. I did not specifically request it as I was going to check the headspace at home but it was a pleasant surprise that they provided the service.

I suspect that kind of attention to detail would spread to their gunsmith operation.

Also, a friend of mine had a Garand rebuilt by Fulton Armory and is pleased with the work. This was many years ago though.

I would save you money and buy a Criterion. There was a test done a few years back with Criterion ,Barnett Douglas and Krieger Garand barrels. Criterion came out on top and was the cheapest.
Nothing against Fulton but I recommend Shuffs. No one does it cheaper, faster and he does outstanding work

How far are you from Anniston AL? Buy a Criterion from the CMP, $179.95, and they'll install it for free.

No they willnot install the barrel for free at Anniston, in fact the have a Custom shop that does the work for a fee.
At Camp Perry in Ohio they will install barrel for free but only during the Nationals

Another option here is James River Armory. They are a relative new company, offering very competitive restoration services.

As an owner of a Fulton Armory M1 Carbine, I can attest to the quality workmanship and professional service offered by Fulton Armory.

I would also consider using the Criterion barrel, as it is considerably less expensive than the Kreiger. while still offering excellent quality.

One more option not yet mentioned. CMP has a custom shop that will install a Criterion barrel on your M1 if you qualify as a CMP purchaser. Go to www.odcmp.com for further information. BTW, I have found CMP's customer service to be unequalled in the firearms industry...especially given their pricing and commitment to ensuring that things are done correctly and that the customer is satisfied. I've been doing business with them since 2008...they're terrific.

I have a Criterion barrell install on my Garand and the Accuracy is amazing. It was installed by the Garand guy when I bought the rifle from him.

If you would like a full list of Criterion dealers and distributors, we provide them on the M1 Garand GI Contour product page of our website. You can access it by clicking here.

Please let me know if you have any other questions about our barrels.

How does the gun shoot? A heavy duty competitor on the CMP was winning matches with a barrel that gauged a 10. Let performance not numbers guide your decision.

Yeah, I've been seeing the CMP newsletter advertising the gunsmithing services they'll do on Garands at Anniston.

Worth consideration.
