Hi all,
During the year 1941 Ordnance and SA planned to reach a production goal of how many M1 Garand rifles per day? What was the number of rifles they were going for?
Have fun
Thanks again

Millions and still counting

I went to my favorite gun store today.
They recieved 3 M1's from their distributor and they were in the 8 million numbers for their serial numbers.Thats some production line!

Glockt,
If the serial numbers are over 6 million that means that those are civilian made M1 Garands. US Ordnance ended in the 6 million range. When a civilian company started to make them they were told to start their serial numbers at 7 million so they would not get mixed up with the Ordnance ones's. Hope this data helps.
Thanks again
Clancy

Thanks for the info!

Thanks again!
I was at my favorite store,he had 2 in shop.
One was fresh out of the box,8 milloin series for $949.00
The other was used and very well maintained and very bore clean,5million series and was $999.00.
I asked why more expensive, the clerk replied because it has history behind it.
I asked were they better built in that run,he replied no.So I question how much history is behind this 5 millionth rifle?
I'll take the band new one for that matter.
