I have noticed many posts have mentioned that "time is running out" to purchase an M1 Garand. Does anyone know the how much longer these rifles will be available commercially? What is the estimated year that these rifles won’t be available through CMP?
Thanks

You will regret it if you don't make it a priority. I know I still regret not picking up a 1903A3 when I had the chance.

CMP just received another shipment of Garands, supposeably enough to last for a few more years. I still wouldnt wait, who knows what tomorrow will bring?

Just because they have them now doesn't mean some gooberment a-hole won't start a push to shut down the sale of those "evil military rifles and ammunition". Get what you can NOW, while you still can. If you want, then get. Trying to save up some discretionary funds or waiting until "the time is right" might cost you. A year ago, nobody thought they'd ever be out of ammo there either.

How long the CMP supply will last is anyone's guess. There is an advantage to CMP in that CMP inspects the rifle and gives you a range of quality to expect and will stand behind the rifle if there is a problem.

There are a lot of M1 Garands around. Your other alternatives are watching the paper for one an individual has for sale or a gun show. You may pay more or less than a CMP Garand and get better or worse quality. The newest ones are over 50 years old. You need to be able to inspect the rifle in person for condition and correct parts.

There will probably always be M1 rifles for sale, it's just a matter of how much you are going to be willing to pay when the CMP inventory hits ZERO.

Look at the crazy prices people were paying for ammo and reloading components at the height of the crunch. Low supply coupled with high demand = skyrocketing prices.

How much time is left? who knows...

I got a cobble together Garand from a gunsmith at a show. $600. In very good cosmetic condition and works great.

Gotta just search a lot and decide if you want a collector or a shooter.

I drove out to CMP south today and sorta impulse bought myself one of the VERY NICE Service Grade Special garands they have on the rack.

I thought a huge lot was coming from S.Korea

It's already been annouced. CMP won't be getting any of this batch of Korean Rifles. They will go to the importers.
A Shame, 80, 000 Rifles would keep CMP going for a long time.

IIRC, mostly Garands that I am aware of.

I believe I read about it on the old CMP forums. If you do a search, you should be able to find something about it. I think it was in the "Ask Orest" part.

I really wish I could post pics! However, CMP does a full nics check, and the FBI loves to delay me, so I gots to wait for my new garand :'(
