Hi all,
I have just updated my M1 Garand sites on the net.
These are the ORIGINAL US Ordnance files on the M1 Rifle, better known as the M1 Garand.
Here are the site addresses.
http://www.users.fast.net/~eclancy
On the above address you must type in the whole address.
http://www.garandm1rifle.com
Both sites are linked to each other and each site has different data files on it.
Vol. 2 of The Garand Papers 1938 to 1939 is now available.
If you have any questions just email me.
Thanks again,
Clancy

Is that Tanker in the picture yours? Is it one of the original 19 made at Springfield Armory or one of the original 150 converted M1's from the Philippines in '44?

Hkmp5sd,
Sorry to say but only TWO (2) "tankers" were built by Ordnance. They were many built in the field. One was sent back to SA for study and two were built for testing. The one at SA was destroyed in testing and the field model is on display. The only other one is the one you see in the pic., it is on display at APG.
I have a ton of data on the "tanker" files. Dr. Atwater, Head of APG and I went over the Ordnance files I brought with me. He was kind and did his research on it and agrees with me and has stated that only 2 were built. Ordnance had ordered 150,000 but we dropped the bomb and that order was Canx.
I hope this data helps.
If enough of you guys email me I can update one of my sites with all the data I have on the "tanker" question.
Thanks again
Clancy
