Hi all,
Here's the info part:\
Springfield Armory from 1795(?) to the advent of the M1 Springfield Armory produced 3887749(?) rifles of all kinds. We know that more M1 Rifles were built during WW2.
Quiz part:
When did Ordnance change the nomenclature from U. S. Semiautomatic Rifle, Caliber .30 M1
to//:
"Rifle, U. S. Caliber, .30 M1."

I'm not positive that the receiver stamping followed the official nomenclature.

Without consulting ANYTHING, I'd guess sometime between August of 1945 and June of 1950. The semiautomatic distinction became meaningless after we quit making all those secondary-standard bolt guns.
