Gentlemen,
First the fact then the Quiz. Have fun.
Fact: A file dated March 8, 1939 shows that the New Front End on the M1 Garand Rifle had passed a 10,000 round test.

The Quiz is as follows:
What were Parkolac and Pentrate used for ?

Thanks again

Parkerizing Chemicals

Clancy,

I'm seconding and slightly enhancing 12's thoughts.

My guess is these are parkerizing chemicals?

John

I have no clue what those chemicals are.

I also have no clue why the gas cylinder is black.

No clue = no clue, therefore:
they were used to put the black finish on the gas cylinder.

Logical, eh?

Regards.

Gentlemen,
Parkolac and Pentrate were two types of finishes tried on the M1 Garand Rifles. Ordnance testing then went to Parkerizing.
Thanks again
Clancy
