Hmmm. That's a bunch lower performance that what I'd expected to see.

I didn't start messing with centerfire and Garands until 1950, and was "raised up" with the idea of 153-grain bullets and around 47,000 psi chamber pressures...I've always "known" that the old Mark 1 was a 172-grain boat tail; too much recoil in a Springfield for the "newbies" so they went to the Mark 2.

No M1 Ball did not work correctly since the 80 Toolroom models. M1 Ball was replaced with M2 Ball. Yes I call this deal ammo-gate.
