Hi all,
.....M1 Garand in 1939 gave Ordnance problems. This part would have to be replaced in all of the M1 Garands in the field or in storeage. Name the part. This one is easy.
Have fun

Detritus,
They had just about finished with the testing on the gas cylinder. However, that's not the answer to this quiz.
Good work
Thanks again

Operating rod

IIRC, the originals suffered from stress cracks and the new ones had a relief milling designed into them.

I know it's related to the 7th round stoppage. Was it the Bullet Guide?

Changed the arms on the follower from straight to a 3 degree angle. To help feeding issues?

Hi all,
No one has it yet. I thought this oe would be easy. If you want me to give you the answer just let me know
Thanks again
Clancy
ps all the other boards don't have it either.

The barrel for the conversion from Gas Trap to Gas Port?

If not, what was it?

Hi all,
Rifles started to have failures in the safety. Ordnance files show that the safety could not be fixed in the field Ordnance. However, field Ordnance had already found the fix. They passed it on to SA and other field units. The next quiz will be harder
Hope you had fun on this one.
Thanks again
Clancy
ps most people have no interest in the books so other books may not make it. The sad part is that the tons of data on the Garand in WW 2 will not make it into books. You guys will not see the best part called Winchester-Gate.

Hi all,
RustyHammer, I have Two books out that are the Ordnance files on the M1 Garand. Vo 1 is from 1920 to 1937, Vol 2 is 1938 and 1939. You get to read the Ordnance orders of how the M1 Project started and tested into production. I also have two sites up with different files on them to give you some idea of what the books look like. Here' one address:
http://www.garandm1rifle.com
If you have time check it out and let me know what you think
Thanks again
Clancy
