...I guess that's my cue...
I shot a .0595 during my M14 days because that's what came on my rifle. I tried an .052 and found the sight picture too dark for my eyes.
Aperature size is a very individual choice. Some factors effecting your choice are the construct of your eye, the amount of distance from your eye to the sight that you're shooting with (eye relief) etc. What you generally want to do is go as small as possible without darkening your sight picture.
I can't be the only ol' M14 shooter on this board can I?
Most of the M1A folks on here have one they bought off the rack, so when you ask a question like this, they go, 'huh?' and tilt their heads sideways like a dog... then they don't post.
Sven,
I see that you're in California. You're fortunate to have a couple of very good M14 smiths in Cali. "Mac" McCoy builds phenomenal M14's and M1's in San Diego, and Tom Luhman of TLC Gunworks does similarly outstanding work on the M14's in Northern Cal.
I won't be reading your post on Gas Systems because of my boycott of anything related to FA.
No slam on my friend BlindRat at all, but it is a SHAME that FA has done so much against the HP community that good shooters will boycott topics about them.
THAT IS ALL THAT WILL BE SAID ABOUT THEM PUBLICLY HERE!!!
