Thanks to everyone that responded in earlier threads. 1st, I tried some new ammo (brass cased 7.62x54R 150gr sp) in my M44 and 2nd, I put a slip on recoil pad onto the gun.
SUCCESS!
3" groups at 100 yards, sights were pretty well regulated, basically POA=POI at 100 yards.
Gigantic Fireballs. A young lad was with his dad next to me firing a 22. I didn't want to completely scar the kid so I didn't shoot when he was on the line. Kid was sitting behind me and I touched one off. Huge fireball, huge boom (though the short barreled AR next to me was just as loud...it didn't have the additional concussion blast) and every time I shot the kid would go "awesome" or "cool".
I think I heard at least 7 times, "What IS that?!"
The range officer was straightening one of the other lanes when I touched off a round. He looked at me like I was crazy...when I asked if he wanted to try it he said "no thanks".
Another guy was shooting also short barreled AR, then switched to a .30-'06 and he said he was a little jealous of the fireball going beyond the bayonet. (yes, bayonet extended).
No one wanted to try shooting it though...yes I did offer to anyone that asked.
Put 40 rounds through it, could have shot more, great setup. Can't wait to get some dies and start reloading.
Icing on the cake were the "decent" groups at 100 yards with the stock iron sights which my eyes can "barely" see. Some Mojo sights may be in the works.
