M44 Bolt "Jumps" When Dry Firing

Should the bolt of an M44 Mosin Nagant be raising up slightly -- less than a centimeter -- when I dry fire? It's nowhere near to opening the bolt, but I've never noticed a bolt jump so much.

Everything else on it seems very solid.

I wondered myself when I bought my M38 and encountered that quirk. I looked all over the net and discovered it's nothing to worry about, completely normal. Since then, every Mosin I've encountered does it.

the rear of the bolt or the front? if its the rear its probibly just the cocking knob moving with the connector

It's the bolt itself. The rear slams forward when you pull the trigger, but it causes the bolt...the part you grab and turn to reload... to jump up.

Probably not a big deal, but I wanted a few opinions before firing it to see if this is evidence of a problem.
