I have a CMMG M4gery with a carbine gas system. It has the carbine buffer (3.4oz I think) and the AR15 carrier. I updated the bolt to a BCM with the black insert and extra strong spring and have had no extraction/ejection issues. I'm looking into getting an H2 buffer (4.6oz) and wanted to know how this one part change would affect (effect?) the ejection. Currently it throws all the shells at about 1 o'clock, which sucks for reloading. I'm looking for it to throw them at 3 to 5 o'clock like my 20" rifle. Thanks !!

It might change the angle. It will help lengthen dwell time and therefor lower chamber pressure during extraction. How that corelates with angle of ejection.... who knows.

Because the heavier buffer will slow cycling, and because the AR uses a plunger type ejector, there's a good chance this will do what you want.

FYI, it will probably improve reliability with hot loads, but may decrease reliability with mild loads.

Thanks for the answers. I use mostly Federal XM193, PPU M193, and IMI M193 so I should be okay. I generally stay away from Wolf, but I've heard that PMC .223 is a pretty weak load ??

Probally need a better buffer spring. Might have a weakish spring. H1 should be a decent buffer, but it deosn't hurt to try the H2.

The H2 or a fresh spring should bring the cases further back. 3-5 oclock. 3 is perfect IMO.

to the OP:

All commercially loaded .223 that I have used has all shot exactly the same. It was all brass cased, 55 grain, so no wolf or brown bear. I had a case of federal bulk that I was using to sight in, and then later had Fiocchi. Someone had said that I would probably need to re-zero with Fiocchi, but I did not. Shot exactly the same. In between, I used PMC several times and it was good also. I don't buy into the whole "weak load" brand concept. It all shoots the same-Right where I want it to hit.
