What effect on recoil does a rifle vs carbine length buffer system have on a 20" barrel rifle length gas system? Do heavier buffer weights negate the buffer tube length differences?

I'm looking to get a BCM A4 and thinking of swapping the A2 stock for a UBR stock for versatility but that uses a carbine buffer. I'd like to keep it as reliable and softest shooting as possible.

I have a PSA 20" with a carbine stock. I use a standard carbine buffer, and it has been completely reliable. If you were worried about it, you could go with a H buffer... but since the 20" with rifle length gas has the proper dwell time, you don't really need it.

^^^me too

SP1 upper on a carbine lower. Works fine and I can't tell much if any difference in felt recoil.

Port pressure, dwell time and buffer weight will affect recoil way more than receiver extension length. As long as you match buffer and spring length with the corresponding R.E. length you will be fine.

I use a 5.4 ounce heavy carbine buffer in both my 20" collapser stock rifles.
Same weight as the standard rifle buffer and best function especially when shooting heavier 62-75 graIn ammo.
