M91/30 with Hex/Octagon receiver

I was looking at Inter oradance for M91/30. In particular thier M-91/30 Mosin Rifle-Octagon 1924-1928 for $98.85. I also see in the SOG ad a M91/30 with hex receiver for $79.95.

Are they both the same gun? Is hex and octagon referring to the same feature?

I think the Hex receiver were found on the early MN's. I like the early date of the IO gun, but like SOG price better, if they are the same gun.

The only real difference might be the condition they are in.

The IO guns are likely upgraded or ex Dragoons. That's what mine is, and it's a 1928 hex receiver. They were made right up to the beginning of the 1930's. Many were upgraded to the "new" 91/30 specs, so they look like a 91/30. The stamp is usually a bit different. The M91 & Dragoon stamp varies, but they can look like this:

Hex receivers were made on the 91/30 until the middle of the 30's, so a hex receiver typically will have an earlier date compared to the round receiver. The IO guns might be a little older, but there's a chance you could get the same or older year from SOG as well.
