Is there much difference between the Beretta M9A1 and the Taurus PT99? The M9A1 seems impossible to find so I'm thinking about getting the Taurus PT99. Do you guys thinks its worth it or should I wait for a M9A1?

Wait and get what you want. I'm not knocking the PT99 as its a pretty good gun and I do like the frame mounted safety feature. But it is not a Beretta (tho it's real close and maybe the safety w/ the ability to carry C&L or DA/SA offsets the Trident from the Bull). I've got one of each (92FS and PT99), both good quality guns, but my PT99 was bought back in '86 when they were considerably cheaper than Berettas. Price point difference is not quite so large nowadays.
But then again, w/ Beretta just signing on a large contract to provide Uncle Sam w/ M9s, it might be a bit of a wait.
You can't really go wrong w/ either for launching 9mm down range, you just rarely hear a Beretta owner saying he wished he'd bought the Taurus... ya know?

FYI...the PT99 has adjustable sights; the PT92 has fixed sights and is technically a closer match to the M9A1.
The main differences: PT92/99 has a frame mounted safety/decocker...up for safe (allows cocked and locked carry); spring-loaded down for decock. The M9 has slide mounted safety/decocker. The PT comes with an internal locking mechanism and key so it does not require a gun lock (if your are inclined to lock you gun up). Don't hear much about something going wrong on an M9; biggest worry is getting a bad GI mag and some complaints about plastic spring guide rods. The PT has a good track record...much better than Taurus' Mil Pro and 24/7 line...but there is the occasional complaint about broken locking blocks and pins working loose on the PT99 adjustable sight. And I think most agree...if something does go wrong, it will take a good while to get your gun back from Taurus customer service.
I've shot both the M9 and PT; I own/have owned 2 PT-99s.
At this weekend's gun show, I saw new Berettas for $500 plus tax. Didn't notice what the PTs were going for ($414 delivered from Buds Gun Shop online) . I would get the PT if the cost savings in your area is meaningful to you.

Wait for the one you want -- too many guns out there to settle 
I find my PT99AF (old version from 1988, no hammer drop) is more accurate than any Beretta 92 I've tried. Test went both ways so there is no experimenter's bias. this Taurus has gone about 20K rounds, the only problem I had was one side the rear sight leaf broke. I used it as a duty gun for 4-5 years and it got banged around more than once. Sent it to Taurus and turnaround was 10-14 days.

Was this recently or years ago? Timely service seemed to go south after they started introducing their new lines of pistols.
This was 4-5 years ago. I also have Taurus 669 and the rear sight flew off while banging off magnums. Really my fault as I should have checked to see the screw was tight. That was a few years earlier with the same turnaround. These have been the only issues I had with my Taurus handguns bought between 1988-2006.
