My best friend just got engaged. I found out just a few hours ago.

I'm not yet sure who will plan his bachelor party but we're mormon so there will be no smoking, no drinking, and no naked girls. I thought shooting some machine guns would fit the bill perfectly. He and others who will most likely be invited are already experienced handgun shooters but none of us have ever shot a MG.

I'm aware that Scottsdalegunclub.com has machinegun rentals but I wanted to shop around a bit and see what else is out there.

Someone that lets you use your own ammo would provide the most economical option. Most of them charge by the round or by the magazine. Scottsdale gun club charged $10 for 25 rounds of handgun calibers and 223, higher prices for rifle ammo.

Anyone have info about this kind of setup?

Hmmm, NOW I see why you're not coming to Vegas! :p

Good luck finding a place - you can always look up AZHusker on 1911 Forums and he'll steer you right.

I know of no business/individual that will let the person use their own ammo in machinegun rentals. The only one that will let you drop ship ammo (from someone like ammoman.com) is a guy by the name of LarryG36 off of HKPRO. There is assurance over the quality control of the ammo that is brought in by the individual. The wait for such a firearm is too long to let it get blown up in a kb.

Shooter's World has full auto rentals, I believe. Great store, great staff.

Mandall's also has such rentals, but the staff really rubs me the wrong way.

I doubt that either will let you shoot your own ammo.

It's not so much being able to shoot your own ammo as it is finding a place that doesn't charge a HUGE markup on their ammo. Lots of places with these rentals seem to charge more than 4X the actual cost of the ammo. For example the cost of 9mm at Scottsdale Gun Club averages to .40/round.

Shooter's World is the only place I've ever rented a weapon, and they sold me some pretty cheap white-box stuff to shoot with.

mr_dove,

Don't worry too much about the cost. How often are you going to do something like this anyway?

I was down in Las Vegas two weeks ago and rented a Thompson sub gun. What a blast! (pun intended) I bought 100 rounds for it and boy did it shoot up FAST. It was worth every penny!

Mandall's in S. Scottsdale

will no doubt be the cheapest. Spartan is the word which best desribes their "range". However, you will get the job done there.:)

Shooter's World is posh...and you PAY for that environment. Consider yourself cautioned.

Does the Scottsdale Gun Club actually exist yet, or is it still an artist's rendering on their brochure?
