in the mid-80's, there was a made for t.v. movie, the premise is that congress past a law that the populance of this one town could all carry conceled weapons. this town was supposed to be the test for future laws. dads memorie is hazy (he can't remember if it ended pro-gun or anti) but if anyone else remembers could the share?
one of his most vivid memoeries was that one of the townspeople wore a black duster and carried two stainless .44 magnum revolvers with long barrels.

it turns anti iirc. The basic plot line is "Diner murder-->push for gun control-->montauge of criminals seeing guns and aborting their crimes-->honest citizens get in arguments and shoot eachother-->original proponents admits he is wrong-->things go back to "normal" except the good will all the honest folk show to eachother somehow repells all criminals

Silly? No, it was agitprop.

Remember when this was released--1986. What was happening then? Right, Florida's reforms were going through. At this time, with the expection of New Hampshire, Vermont, Indiana, Alabama and a few others, very few states had viable CCW laws.

The antis knew that if CCW reform went through in a state with a large number of electoral votes the dam would break and many states would follow. The antis were in high panic, calling Florida the "Gunshine" State, complete with "blood in the streets" rhetoric.

The cultural elite reads from the same playbook. Antis in the Creative Class tried to stem the tide and to show you, the Great, Ignorant Unwashed, how inert mechanical objects turn you barefoot, inbreed, toothless banjo-playing hatemongers into the killers you are underneath the surface.

Armed America

There is actually a real working model of "Armed America" that the news doesn't like to talk about.
Kennesaw, GA, passed a law that roughly equated everyone had a firearm in their home, although as I understand there is actually no penalty for failing to do so. I'm told crime in that town dropped sharply.
I haven't heard of that town in a while.
