Hey all, I have heard about a ar-15 mag pouch being used as an ambidextrous and universal pistol holster, Does this actually work? If so what kind of pouch is best, an open top with a bungee? or one with a flap? Also This would be used for a G26, Hope you guys can help,
Matt

I hope this is something temporary or to be used under controlled conditions. Besides the probable fit and retention issues, you don't want a pistol magazine on the same side of your body as the gun. It will make for a very slow and awkward reload.

I could see doing something like this, if it were for a pistol, for which there were no available holsters. Sounds like a terrible idea, when there are a lot of actual holsters available for G26. Since it appears that you don't have a mag pouch in hand already, that you intend to use in this role, you'd have to go buy one, and if you're going to go buy something to put your G26 in, why wouldn't you just go ahead and get an actual holster that will work much better?

The concept might work, if you don't mind your pistol flopping around in the pouch.
Concealment will me minimal, retention will be too little or too much, the pouch will be bulky, etc etc

You have a common pistol, get a holster designed for that weapon, not a cobbled-together kludge.
