my gun dealer sold me on a box of Mag Tech first defense ammo, .45 acp 165 gr. copper jacket, I am old school, prefer 230 gr. JHP for a stopper. anyone shot these? have opinon, only Mag Tech shot is cowboy ammo so just curious, ammo looks good like a Talon but somehow I feel bigger is better...

Been better off with the Corbon 160 DPX or the 185DPX+P Mag Tech is a poor copy.
Seems since ammo shortage dealers just buy anything and tell you this will work fine. Even my dealer starting to do that.

I think that people overthink stuff.

I don't like +P ammo. If you want a given bullet weight to go faster than the original design, use a different cartridge. I THINK, that smaller .45 bullets are for compact .45s, to try to get back the velocity you lose with the shorter barrels. I think that things that go wrong with 1911s mostly happen when people mess with the design.

I only use 230 gr bullets and full-size 1911s. I have used cast, hard-ball, etc, and I carry 230 gr HSTs, but always 230 gr. I know that they work like they are supposed to.
