Sam,
I'm not confused or offended by anything you have done or said so don't take things personally.
Yes I've shot many matches. I've also RO'd matches and been the MD.You?
Rulebook under Requirements for club affiliation item 8 states "Clubs must follow IDPA rules and principals"
I fail to see where this is open to interpretation.
You brought up turning away shooters for illegal equipment which I wouldn't do either. I will let you shoot anything you want. I simply will not call it IDPA. Call it happy fun time gun shoot if you want but if you're not playing the game with the correct equipment you're playing a different game.
I'm sure that you've SO'd your fair share on matches and seem to have a working understanding of the rule book. There are a few things that have been said that are a bit off and I would hate for an inexperienced shooter come across erroneous information out here and think it's okay and what they are doing is correct.
I sure hope the new rule book clears up some of these questions.

Yep. This really makes you want to run out and join an IDPA club.

The travesty of IDPA? The rule book, and things like "failure to do right."

No offense meant to any member, though. Just an outsider looking in.

I am an outsider looking in as well and am only offering an observation...

We have people like this at my club. They feel that the only way they can win is by pushing the equipment rules to the very edge. I've noticed that it is usually the career MM class shooters that still think the key to winning is based on the gun and not the shooter. I may be wrong in this case...
