have a special need to add weight to my 1100 LW 20ga, to reduce recoil-broke neck last Nov. now in neck brace, and worry about recoil, more than ever.
have read about adding weight in a mag extension, with old dummy shells, steel bars, springs, etc, but no solid info. do not want weights doing damage to mag tube or the extension.
my stock is so short that when you take off pad,the spring tube nut is right there,so can't add weight to stock end. may get a side saddle to add weight there. I am useing lighter loads, but still worry about recoil.
all suggestions welcomed

thank you for your time

Hi emmie,

I don't know how much weight you want to add to the gun overall. I'd think you want to do the best you can to maintain the current balance of the gun, if in fact you're happy with it as it is.

You can drill out additional holes in the stock parallel to the stock bolt/bolt return spring tube hole for places to add weight in the stock to balance whatever weight you add up front. Birdshot filling those holes will work for weight.

For weight up front, take a look at

New, factory original blued-steel weights are 6.6.ounces each and thread onto the end of the magazine tube. This greatly improves balance and swing rotation for trap and skeet shooters. Two types available.
