Odd as it sounds, it does have both. The floor plate hinges open, and attached to it is a short metal mag. that you can take off. Idea here is that it's easier to load and unload the rifle (as in getting in and out of a car or to put away at hunting camp) without having to deal with a pocket of loose rounds.

Different Browning, but about 1/3 the way down the page, have a picture f the magazine system.

To me that doesnt seem quite detachable it seems like partially detached?
I dont know, i guess ill keep looking then. I was looking for completely detachable so a second magazine could easily be put in.

Edit on that I read it farther adn it can be completely removed so scratch that lol.

The magazine is completely detachable. It detaches from the floorplate. I used to have a Browning .300 Win Mag. with that same setup.

Oh.. eh.. I just saw your edit there .. so um .. this is my edit on here ..heh

Well.. I don't really see anything wrong with the browning setups.. that is if you consider the purpose of these type of rifles.. you're not likely to be attempting too many extremely fast reloads. Honestly though, I just never saw much of a point to it. I does seem like at least a slightly awkward process to have to seat the mag properly on the floorplate first, rather than just slapping it home. I'm not sure what browning's standpoint is on its purpose. I will say this though , that 300 win. mag. A-bolt stainless stalker was one hell of a nice rifle.
