I have listened to a friend and finally bought a Kimber. It is everything I have ever heard about them as far as reliability and accuracy are concerned.
I have emailed Kimber 4 times asking about the availability of magazines, either 10 round or, preferably, high capacity. I finally got an answer advising that I can buy directly from Kimber's custom shop for $44.95 each for 10 rounders. Plus shipping and handling. They also told me to go to the stocking dealer in my area, who has no spares for the BP 10-II. They acted like the information about mags was as secret as plans for a space ship. When this area went through a temporary shortage of mags for the Para C-7.45 LDA I bought last year I wrote Para and they sent me 2 brand new mags. Kimber, on the other hand, keeps mum.
Does anyone have information about mags for this Kimber? Does any other brand fit the Kimber? Mec-Gar? any of them. If anyone can point me to a source which has reasonable cost I will be grateful

I luckily found two 14 rnd mags for mine right after I bought it but have never seen any other mags for it anywhere. I was assuming we could find them once the ban was gone...

BTW, good to hear you like the BP Ten II. I think it rivals the CZ75 in the "most pistol for the money" category. Hard to beat at any price.

This is a typical story. Kimber no longer wants to bother with an online catalog, so they make it difficult to buy direct from them. Instead, they say buy from a Kimber stocking dealer. There are at least 3 within easy travel distance in my area and none of them carry any accessories. Sure, some have the Kimber cheap 7 round stock mags, but nobody carries grips and parts. I could order them through the shop, but it's a big pain. Goes something like this, go to shop, order parts, go home, wait a few weeks, miss call from shop that parts arrived, drive back to shop to get parts. If you could order everything they have available direct, it's faster and you don't have to drive as much.

Kimber hi-cap mags...

I am astounded to see from the responses that Kimber seems to have a history of neglecting customers. It took, literally, 4 emails to Kimber to even get them to email me to say, "sorry, we can't help you!..." I have gotten responses from forum folks about converting Para mags, but that would be a "last resort" in this case. I have to share this: I realize that I was being less than sensitive...but I actually emailed Para Ordnance last night primarily to prove a point to mysealf that Para always answered emailed questions.
I asked them if the were aware of interchangability bewteen any of their mags and Kimber pistols. Instead of laughing at me or ignoring me they responded this morning and told me that they couldn't comment since they were unaware of what Kimbers needed. Point being. THEY gave me a courteous answer.

Bottom right corner of the page, conversion mag release to use unmodified Para mags in the Kimber/BUL frames. You're welcome!

Don't pat yourself on the back too hard, these have been listed and out of stock for about forever. To the point I've seen several forum posts asking if anyone has ever actually recieved one, but never seen a positive reply.

I ordered one about two months ago and am still waiting ....

I must be going against the trend.

Ordered two hicap mags for my Kimber polymer (from Kimber) just last month. I encountered no problems and received them in about 7-10 days time. No muss and no fuss as far as Kimber was concerned. Good shooting;)

How much did each mag cost ya? Last I looked, Kimber was still charging over $100 for these babies.... :cuss:

Since Kimber doesn't actually MAKE this pistol (BUL does), I've been trying for a while now to get some grey-market BUL mags. When Charles Daly became the official importer for BUL, my links ran dry - nobody wanted to sidecut their 'official' importer. Moreover, for whatever reason (the BUL -> Kimber links?) Daly won't bring in the 14rounders. :banghead:

Kimber magazines

Dairycreek, When I last had a conversation with Kimber they wouldn't even admit they had hi-cap mags yet....They said from 1 week to 3 weeks...they would not give me a price on hi-caps either. $44.95 for the 10 rounders was ALL they'd say. I am glad if anybody managed to get anything out of them I think I must not have been holding something right when I talked to them.I understand their wanting to respect whatever arrangement with stocking dealers, but it seems as if...to me...they pretty much told me, "tough pattooties !" I haven't had this much fun trying to buy from anyone since I tried to deal with Ajax Grips. However, I still like the pistol.

I doubt Kimber will even support these guns with accessories anymore. They're not going to market the gun anymore (I think I read this over at www.1911forum.com ), so I think they'll cut these customers loose. The guns are now imported by Charles Daly. Several models are listed under the M-5 link.

You might try dropping Charles Daly a note and see if they can get you the mags. The new kid on the block might be willing to bend over backwards to give good customer service so they can get a foothold on this market.

Edited to add: I just noticed that they catalog a .40 version. Hmmmm, I would if this could be converted to 10mm? I know I could drop in a 10mm barrel, but I wonder if the frame could take it. Something to chew on. Back on track.....

Southpaw Shootr; I just got off the Charles Daley website. Thanks for the advice. They already show the pistol...which appears to be the "Kimber" model I have. Their on-line parts and accessories listing is a little hazy, so I emailed them to find out what is who. They do offer a 13 round magazine. I guess I got the wool pulled over my eyes by the "Kimber" on the pistol. I should have known that the price I paid was far less than Kimbers usually run.
I still have to say that this is absolutely in the top 5 or 6 pistols in my experience in terms of accuracy and dependability. Kimber or not... it's a sweet shooting pistol.

Aryfrosty,

How much were the mags for your kimber polymer from Charles Daly? Did you call them to order?

Springfield Armory wide body mags will fit also.

Not that I don't trust the opinion of a complete stranger over the internet who could be in another country...but any kinda backup for your statement? It would be great if SA wide body mags fit, but I don't want to be the test case. :D

I got mine from Brownells, before they quit stocking them. I was a little pissed off because you still have to open the hole in the para magazine, just not as much. I dremeled the catch instead so I can use factory Para mags.

Kimber doesnt list seperate mags for the old vs new polymers, so I think its a safe assumption that the series II Polymers use the same mags as the BUL pistols, so I dont know *** their problem is.

I've been told that the para mags dont drop free in the new polymers since the tube is wider, however never tried it. I dont like the feel of the series II polymers, I've only actually seen one.

Wrong! The SA widebodies take the Para mags. The SA OEM mags that ship with the guns appear to be ProMag's version of the Para mags.

The Kimber BP series has the mag catch located so stock Para mags won't lock in. They will feed in my gun with a very "strong cup and saucer" hold to keep the mag in place, so if you can properly locate where to cut a new mag catch hole in a Para mag it "should" work. But it will not work in a Kimber BP without modification.

FWIW, I just took delivery of a NIB stainless Kimber hi-cap for my ProCarry Ten-II. Cost me $50US (which is too much, IMO), but at least I now have 14+1...

The stainless 14-rounder has a vastly superior fit-n-finish than the 10-rounders, but it does add about 1/4" more to the grip length.

Where did ya get it? Do they have any more?

I bought it via a private sale. In my 2 years of looking, it's the first one I've run across 'in the wild'.

I have quite a few 14 rounders and could probably part with a couple. I had enough for two Kimber polymers, but now that I have just one there is probably no need for the extra mags. If anyone wants a couple email me at [email protected]. I will check to see how many I have when I get home tonight.
