can anyone tell me if the polimer magazines are as good as the metal ones or are they junk

Sorry the ones that I have are magpul but I'm having some feed issues. It might be the ammo it's old. The rifle is a rock river lower and a bushmaster dissipator.

i prefer steel, but i had a styre aug with lexon magazines that you could run over with a truck and still work. i have bolt action rem .22 magazines(some good, some junk)and a CZ 452 with a nylon-plastic magazine, but i have not used it enough yet to make a comment. eastbank.

Try a different type of magazine. If the problem goes away then you know it is the magazine. If not, you know to start looking elsewhere. I've had good luck with magpuls and they have a pretty good reputation, but that doesn't mean your gun will work with them.

I have Magpul mags for my ARs and have had zero feed issues with them. As stated earlier, try a different mag (steel) and see if it corrects your problem.

I have never had any problems with poly mags in my ak's. I have had feeding issues with metal ones. A little filing on the follower fixed it for me.

It totally depends on the quality. There are some polymer mags that are rock solid, such as the Bulgarian circle 10 mags and the Russian Bakelites for the AK and the Magpul P-mags for the AR; and then there are cheap pieces of crap, like the Tapco and Promag polymer AK mags, and the Israeli plastic mags for the AR. The same goes for metal mags. The main thing is to research and buy a mag with a reputation for reliability.

Magpul makes reliable magazines. At least they have been reliable in my AR15 rifles.

Before you go and buy new mags try a different brand of ammo and see what happens. I would suspect the ammo is at fault before I suspect a Magpul magazine. Feed problems in a gun are often caused by a particular ammo not working in that particular gun.

thank you all for your input, i have tried steelcase (tulammo) and had no problems like i had previously stated. however i still need to try different brass cased ammo to find out what works. this site is the best for first timers like me or people that have been out of the game for a while. thanks again
