Does anyone have experience with the magneetospeed chrony's ? I am buying one tomorrow, but can't decide if the V3 is worth the extra 200 bucks.

I believe the V3 links the data to other devices??? and the sport does not? I think the V3 can be strapped to a suppressor??? Don't hold me to either of those...

FWIW, I have the older V2 and it worked well till the scroll wheel stopped working. The manufacturer will repair it for a small fee (out of warranty); I just need to send it to them.

Compared to a old CED, the V2 is more consistent and easier to set up.

I have one, a V2, I think. At least not the current offerings.

For rifle, I like it alot. I have never tried it with handguns. Magnetospeed did not have the handgun stuff when i bought mine that they have today.

Sensor issues like with optical based systems are virtually non-exisitant.

It is nice to not have instruments down range to get shot.

It is nice to not have to go down range to set up/retrieve the sensors.

I like that data is stored to a micro SD card that allows for easy transfer to a computer.

I have had the V3 for several months now and love it! I mostly use it with the pic rail adapter. I run a piece of rail out past the end of my hand guard and attach the V3 to that. Doing it this way keeps it off the barrel and doesn't result in a POI shift.

I ended up going with the sporter .I think with the money that I saved, I will buy quick load. I was never really concerned with velocity till I started loading for the .22 CHeetah. Now it has piqued my interest.

My friend recently bought the sporter. He also bought the cord that attaches to his iPhone to help with the readings instead of having to scroll through the little box

I have the Sporter, and I like it. I am getting good readings, as compared to my buddy's Caldwell.

I had one problem initially. The clamp system would come loose after a few rounds on my 30-06 and my .243. So I put some loc-tite on the screw and haven't had that problem since.

Other cons;
it will not work on a semi-auto handgun. The V3 has an optional SA adapter for that. It will not work on short barreled revolvers. The barrel needs enough length for the mounting to fit. A 4 or 5" barrel, I think.

It is not sensitive enough for paintball or air-gun pellets. I don't shoot paintball, so that doesn't bother me, but I would like info on my airguns.

The display is not a sophisticated as the V3, but it gives you all the basic info that you need.

I might eventually buy a V3 for the higher capabilities, as I do like the magnetoSpeed concept. Meanwhile it is working great for my rifle data.

I think he was referring specifically to using it on a handgun. I have not yet attached it to a handgun, but it attaches to an AR rail just fine so I don't see why it wouldn't on a handgun rail. Next time I have it out I'll throw it on one and see what I think.
