My Magnetospeed Sporter (the "budget model") is designed to chronograph load velocities from a rifle, but it can be made to fit on some revolvers. It didn't work well on my 4” DA revolver (don't ask me how I know), but the replacement unit functioned adequately on my 6.5" M629. I had to check the bayonet position after every shot and often needed to readjust it, but at least I didn't have to futz with a tripod setup downrange nor was lighting a concern. I do need to modify the strap as the friction buckle slips; perhaps velcro is in order. In the end, it provided reasonable data, and it has its limitations as with any chrony system, but I'm not ready to claim victory just yet. If I can get it to work on my 5” 460V, then I'll be satisfied…to be continued.

I've strapped my v3 to my revolvers. Bounced a bullet off the bayo with my 44 gp100 when I had it strapped underneath tho. So I do like you now and run it on the side, or over the top.
