WOODBURY -- Sheriff Gilbert Miller III said his office is offering refrigerator magnets that can be kept in plain view and remind families about the importance of gun safety.

The magnets, which were provided by the organization Common Sense about Kids and Guns and funded by the Gloucester County Freeholder Board, will be offered at no charge to residents who contact Miller at 384-4630.
 
When I read "Magnets will provide gun safety reminder" all I could think of were the little Clean/Dirty magnets that go on dishwashers, except the gun magnets would say "Loaded/Unloaded".

If they were reeeal small they would fit on the slide.

They're not just bleeding heart magnets............no siree!!!

They are spy ware for the home. The feds just punch in your magnet number and pooof........they're peering about your kitchen!!

In a little trick I picked up in the military, I use a magnet on my safe door to indicate when locked and unlocked. When you're messing around pulling stuff in and out, it is real easy to forget to spin the dial when finished.
 
Sounds fine to me. :)

I work in the flexible magnet industry. We make some of the magnets that you see on the refridgerator doors. The magnets themselves, not what is printed on them. That is done by our customers. If you think you would like to make your own, there are printer ready flexible thin sheet magnets that you can print whatever you want on yourself.
 
My usual reaction to such ideas is that they are the product of someone who hasn't enough real work to do. The problem is, of course, that the sheriff has more than enough real work to do. I will express the hope (limited) that the electorate will respond appropriately and leave the ad hominem possibilities to the reader's imagination...
 
Sounds like a good idea to me. Though, it should be done via private monies and not funded publically.

Something along these lines

Gun Safety Rules
1 All guns are always loaded
2 Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy
3 Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target
4 Be sure of your target
 
The only kitchen magnet I have sez "Arizona" with a roadrunner on it. However, I do have the Atticus Board with the 4 rules in the basement armoury.

I like Fro's idea. Something for the NRA to consider? Or maybe something like Curt's Essentials from Orange API--cell phone, $500, ID, radar detector and 1911.:)
